Spencer, IA (KICD)—A Spencer man is in jail on drug trafficking charges after police confiscated a large amount of methamphetamine during the execution of a search warrant at a downtown apartment on Tuesday.

Information released by the Clay County Attorney’s Office says multiple law enforcement agencies, including a tactical unit with the Iowa State Patrol, participated in the investigation that resulted in the alleged discovery of more than 33 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at more than half a million dollars along with several thousand dollars in cash.

As a result, Oscar Navarro-Zepeda was taken into custody at the scene and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. Navarro-Zepeda made his initial court appearance on Wednesday and is being held in the Clay County Jail on 750-thousand dollars bond. If convicted, he faces up to fifty years behind bars and one million dollar fine.
