Lake Park, IA (KICD)– As we reported earlier this week, the Harris Lark Park School Board made the decision on Monday to pursue a bond issue that would make a new elementary wing on the district’s middle and high school possible.
Superintendent Les Douma says while the decision on which of three directions to go was tough, the road ahead is going to be even more difficult.
Douma says it is critical to get approval for a new building this fall. He says the dates allowed for bond issues by the state would make it another year before a failed issue could be resurrected and the HVAC system in the current building is on life support as it is.
Harris Lake Park voters will decide the fate of the bond issue September 12th. It needs a “super majority” of 60 percent approval to pass.
