Sioux Center, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Girls and Boys Basketball teams traveled to Sioux Center for a night of non-conference basketball.

The Spencer girls struggled to get the offense going against Class 4A’s #3 ranked team.

Spencer fell in that contest by a score of 55-22.

The Tigers had 8 scorers, but only Addison Olson had more than one field goal on the evening. Spencer was outscored a combined 38-4 in the first and second quarters.

Sioux Center had 11 scorers, led by Maryn Franken’s 11 on the evening.

Sioux Center improves to 5-0 on the season while Spencer will drop to 2-4.

The Spencer Boys used a fast start and a strong finish to overcome a young and feisty Sioux Center team.

Spencer made it three consecutive wins with the 52-43 victory.

Cael Bruning and Jack Berends scored double figures for the Tigers with 17 and 13 respectively.

Sioux Center was led by Ezra Hibma, who came off the bench to score 14.

Up next for the Sioux Center teams will by a road trip to Rock Rapids to play Siouxland Conference foe Central Lyon.

Spencer is back home on Friday to open up Lakes Conference play, hosting Cherokee.
