(northwestiowanow.com) — Two separate accidents have claimed the lives of the drivers, one in Kossuth County, and the other in Plymouth County.

On Monday night, a car and semi collided head-on after the Iowa State Patrol says Andres Exposito of Webster City was in the 1700 Block of 210 Street in Algona, after Exposito crossed the center line and crashed head on into a semi driven by Daniel Murray Jr of Webster City. Exposito was dead at the scene, and Murray was treated at the Algona hospital for injuries. Iowa State Patrol says the accident remains under in investigation.

And early Monday morning in Plymouth County, a one-vehicle semi tractor trailer crash on Highway 75 heading south near Merrill claimed the life of the driver.

Officials arrived at the scene; the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. It’s believed the semi failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. It then traveled through the west ditch, through a business parking lot, and over Jackson Street until it hit a tree in a residential yard.

Iowa State Patrol and Fire Departments from Merrill, Hinton and LeMars were on the scene.

The driver of the semi was pronounced dead, and the name is being released at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
