Sheldon, IA (KICD)—The trial for a Rock Rapids man accused of killing his mother in Sheldon earlier this year has been pushed back.

41-year-old Nathaniel Kassel was originally scheduled to go in front of a jury in June, but online court records show a motion for continuance was made and granted earlier this month with a new trial date now planned for August 15th.

Kassel was arrested in South Dakota in late March a day after 62-year-old Jody Duskin was found dead in her O’Brien County home by another family member.

Kassel currently faces a charge of first-degree murder. Additional charges of possession of firearm as a felon and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent have been dismissed by the court.
