Spencer, IA (KICD)– The long awaited solution to fix an odor on the west side of Spencer is expected to begin taking shape in the coming days.

City Manager Dan Gifford told the City Council on Monday the parts needed to cover a specific tank at the Symrise egg processing facility has arrived after some delay.

Gifford says this is only the first phase of the project to help eliminate the odor, but there is specific timetable on that portion being completed.

The cover in question was originally supposed to be installed about a month ago, but ended up being delayed in the process of being released from U.S. Customs after it was manufactured oversees instead of in Oklahoma as first thought.
