Milford, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Milford Pioneer Days parade route will not change. At the event every year A 34 – the direct East and West route through town; and Highway 71 – the direct North and South route through town; are shut down for the event.

Shilo Brevik has been the city’s police chief since 2022 and had recommended shifting the parade to a side street to avoid closing down the highway citing an inconvenience for law enforcement, motorists, and downtown shoppers.

After several discussions including a lengthy one at the most recent city council meeting, the council unanimously to keep the traditional route. Councilman Shane Hoffman commented “It’s only once a year for two hours.”
This year’s festivities will run July 25th, 26th, and 27th.
