Sioux City, IA (KICD)– The man accused of robbing a Northwest Iowa bank nearly two years ago has plead guilty as part of deal reached with the court.

38-year-old Leon Sutton was taken into custody earlier this year by federal authorities accused of robbing Iowa State bank in Sheldon in June 2021 and then leaving on foot before police arrived.

Sutton was scheduled to go to trial in a couple of weeks but reached a deal on one count of bank robbery that KTIV in Sioux City reports includes a recommendation for eight years in prison.

He will be formally sentenced at a later date.
