Arnolds Park, IA (KICD)—A Cedar Rapids man has died after drowning in the Iowa Great Lakes over the weekend.

Multiple emergency agencies were called to the Miller’s Bay area shortly before 1:30 Saturday afternoon to a report of a drowning individual who had gone under water.

Authorities say the victim, identified as 21-year-old Alexander Glover, was brought to the surface by a nearby kayaker allowing family to begin life-saving measures before Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire and Rescue arrived and transported him to Lakes Regional Healthcare where he died.

Authorities say Glover was in the local area for vacation and had jumped into around thirteen feet of water to take a short swim in the 57-degree lake reportedly becoming fatigued while attempting to get back to his boat that had begun to drift away.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and Communication Center, Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Rescue and Dive Team, Milford Fire and Rescue and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Lake Patrol all assisted in the rescue effort.
