Des Moines, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Iowa Economic Development Authority awarded a $35,000 grant to Cherokee County Conservation Board today, to assist with construction at The Licklider Shooting Complex south of Cherokee.
Cherokee County Conservation Director Laura Jones says how the grant will be used.
Jones says the hope is to have this complex assist local shooting teams with practice facilities and hopefully invite local and regional competitions and other events in the future.
CCCB took over management of the 50-acre area in 2023, and future improvements continue and will hopefully be completed by this fall 2025.
The Community Attraction and Tourism Grant through the IEDA is intended to financially assist communities constructing recreation, cultural, educational or entertainment facilities that enhance the quality of life in Iowa.
