Spirit Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Thousands of visitors from Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Minnesota attended the annual Shake the Lakes Music Competition at Spirit Lake’s Sammy Center over the weekend.

The winners of Friday’s Jazz Choir competition were Dallas Center Grimes in Class 4A, Algona in Class 3A, Green County School in 2A, and Newman High School from Mason City in 1A.

In the crowded Show Choir competition on Saturday the Totino-Grace Catholic School from Fridley, Minnesota took top honors with Harmonia Mundi from Sioux City Bishop Heelan second, and Sioux Falls Jefferson finishing third. Tournament Director Luke Miller says there’s already a waiting list to get in the 2026 competition.
