Storm Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Buena Vista County received the brunt of thunderstorms last night. Mid-American Electric says thousands of customers – mainly in and around Storm Lake – are without power after downed lines and snapped poles.
George Bower is in the newsroom with an update on this morning’s storm that started around 1am.

The chief meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls – Todd Heitkamp – believes there was not tornadic rotation in the storm.

Many businesses in Storm Lake including the Buena Vista County Medical Center remain closed at this time.
