Ashton, IA (KICD)– An Ashton woman is facing multiple charges after leading police on a high speed chase late last week.

Court records show a deputy with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop Melanie Lucas around 8:30 last Friday evening after her SUV was allegedly seen traveling more than one hundred miles per hour on Highway 60 south of Ashton .

Despite the deputy having emergency lights activated, Lucas is said to have continued driving until reaching her home where she reportedly refused to comply with orders to exit the vehicle leading to the deputy having to remove her.

Lucas has been charged with eluding, operating under the influence, speeding and interference with official acts.
