Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The Iowa DOT is looking for public feedback concerning the proposed roundabout to be installed at the northern junction of US Highway 18 and US Highway 71 in 2027.

Tracy says fatalities and accidents at the 18 and 71 junctions have raised alarms and the DOT is increasing safety first.

The DOT and the City of Spencer are finalizing plans to pave 4th Ave North for the local detour planned, and a public meeting may be scheduled soon. Visit the DOT website for more information and to give your feedback.

The design for this particular roundabout is taking into account large trucks hauling wind turbine blades, farm machinery, as well as pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and stresses the DOT’s main purpose for roundabouts is safety.
