Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– The Spirit Lake Community School District is beginning to look at options for an Elementary Principal after its current seat holder announced his resignation for a Central Iowa Superintendent job.

Casey Huebner has been worked in Spirit Lake for twelve years, including five years as a teacher and the rest as an administrator. He tells KICD News he has been considering making the jump to a district leader for a while after being able to learn in his current role.

Huebner says he was drawn to the Panorama Community School District because of its values which he says are very similar to Spirit Lake.

Huebner will officially become the Superintendent in Panora on July 1st. He says he hopes to take everything he has learned during his time in Spirit Lake to his new job to help make sure the students are able to get the best education possible.
