Arnolds Park, IA (KICD) — After two years of discussions and two professional studies, the Friends of the Abbie Gardner Cabin has determined a new interpretive center needs to be constructed. Anita Bomgaars says the consensus is that the small museum there now is inadequate to tell the story.

Bomgaars says the cabin itself is deteriorating quickly and needs to be stabilized.

Bomgaars says the state of Iowa has consented to sell adjoining property to the city of Arnolds Park for a low price so the Friends Group can use it to develope the full campus.
Year two of an archeologic dig will commence by the end of the month.
