PALO ALTO, IA (northwestiowanow.com) – A single-vehicle rollover accident early Friday morning led to citations for a Mallard man.

At approximately 5:37 a.m. on May 9, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a rollover crash in the 4100 block of 460th Avenue. When deputies arrived, they found a 2008 Pontiac G6 in the east ditch — unoccupied and totaled.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle, owned by Robert Eugene Leuer, had been traveling south on 460th Avenue when it left the roadway to the west, entered the gravel shoulder, crossed the centerline, and rolled into the east ditch.

Further investigation identified the driver as 30-year-old John Bennet Leuer of Mallard. Leuer was cited for failure to maintain control, a scheduled simple misdemeanor, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a non-scheduled violation.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Emmetsburg Police Department, Palo Alto County Health System, and Wickman’s Towing.
