Sioux City, IA (KICD)– A Cherokee man is going to federal prison on a child exploitation conviction.

33-year-old James Buckingham was convicted as part of a plea deal in February after he admitted to sexually abusing a child under the age of twelve on multiple occassions while also taking at least four videos of the abuse.

Buckingham was given more than 29 years behind bars last week and will be required to serve seven years on supervised release following his time in prison. United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard Strand further ordered Buckingham to pay more than four thousand dollars in restitution to the victim.
