Arnolds Park, IA (KICD) As we reported last week, the Friends of the Abbie Gardner Cabin have plans to build a new interpretive center where a small museum currently sits.
President Anita Bomgaars says the state of Iowa is willing to sell a plot of land to get the project started.
Bomgaars hopes the site can tell various aspects of what’s known as The Spirit Lake Massacre.
But most importantly – Bomgaars says – was what happened to Gardner later in life.
The Spirit of Okoboji has paid for two studies on the Gardner Cabin site to get to this point. No estimates have been released on what the new interpretive center might cost or how the money will be raised.
