Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Motorists traveling on U.S. 18 east of Ruthven in Palo Alto County should prepare for a temporary road closure beginning Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 27, weather permitting. The closure is necessary for essential repairs to the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) railroad crossing.
During this period, traffic will be rerouted via a marked detour. The detour will direct motorists north on Palo Alto County Road N-18, then east on Palo Alto County Road B-25, north on Palo Alto County Road N-26, east on Palo Alto County Road B-14, and finally south on Iowa 4 until rejoining U.S. 18.
The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) urges drivers to exercise caution in the work zone, adhere to posted speed limits and signs, and be aware that traffic fines are doubled in these areas. Staying alert, maintaining ample following distance, and wearing seat belts are also strongly advised.
