STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) – A Storm Lake man is facing felony charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle and being apprehended across state lines.

On Monday, June 9, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at a residence in the 1000 block of Michigan Street. The vehicle, a Ford Escape, was reportedly taken without permission during the evening hours of Sunday, June 8.

Following the initial report, the vehicle was entered into the national database as stolen. Around 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, authorities in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, notified Storm Lake Police that the vehicle had been located.

According to police, the vehicle was being operated by Phouthone Lougiu, 37, of Storm Lake. Lougiu was taken into custody by Brooklyn Center Police on probable cause of receiving stolen property. He faces a charge of Theft in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony under Iowa law.
