Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) –A splashpad has been a priority for the city of Spencer for over a decade but keeps getting delayed for one reason or another. Mayor Steve Bomgaars says it’s time to act.
Blueprints have already been drawn up by engineer Wes Brown, who says a dechlorinate would be necessary because the lift station near West Leach Park couldn’t handle the extra water.
Brown is confidant of his 1.2-million-dollar construction estimate. City Manager Kevin Robinson says he has a plan that would cover that cost without property taxes.
Now that’s just a suggestion at this time, the city council would make the final decision. When the city is ready to go, Brown thinks construction would take a matter of months.
