Estherville, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — There were no injuries, but a residential structure in Estherville was a total loss after a weekend fire.
Estherville Chief Travis Sheridan says they were dispatched at midnight Saturday to North 11th street. The first officers to arrive observed flames coming through the roof of the two story structure. When the rest of the crew arrived they immediately attacked the primary structure. Fire departments from Wallingford, Gruver, and Spirit Lake were called to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the neighborhood in 35 mile per hour winds.
The Estherville fire department was on the scene until 5, and was paged back an hour later when the flames were rekindles and spent another hour on scene.
The Estherville and Wallingford Ambulance, the Estherville Police and Emmet County Sheriff’s departments, and Estherville Water department also assisted.
The fire remains under investigation.
