STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) – The Storm Lake Fire Department responded to a house fire on Saturday morning, June 21.
At approximately 8:50 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to 115 E. 7th Street, where a fire had broken out in a residential structure. Fire Chief Glen Schlesser was the first to arrive on the scene and observed moderate smoke coming from the attic and eaves of the home.
The response was quickly upgraded to a general alarm for a working fire. The first arriving engine company brought the blaze under control within 10 minutes. Firefighters then conducted an extensive overhaul to ensure no remaining embers posed a risk of reignition.
The Alta Fire Department assisted with mutual aid, providing an additional engine.
No injuries were reported. Two firefighters were evaluated by emergency medical personnel on scene due to the extreme heat, but neither required hospitalization.
According to the Storm Lake Fire Department, the fire appears to have been caused by an electrical failure.
