Spencer, IA (KICD)– Two people are in custody on drug charges after police executed a search Monday morning in Spencer.

Police Chief Mark Warburton tells KICD News his officers, along with the High Risk Entry and Arrest Team, converged on 1422 3rd Avenue West around 6 a.m. temporarily closing surrounding streets and trails as a safety precaution.

As a result, 47-year-old Eric Peterson was taken into custody and charged with felony third offense possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested was 51-year-old Dawn Peterson. She was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, both simple misdemeanors.

Both parties were taken to the Clay County Jail where they remain incarcerated.
