Rolfe, Iowa (Northwestiowanow) – A Pocahontas County man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting another man with a machete.

According to the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of an assault in Rolfe at approximately 12:30 a.m. on June 22nd. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a male victim who had sustained minor injuries during the altercation.

Following an investigation, 38-year-old David Pineda Medrano was arrested. He has been charged with going armed with intent, which is classified as a Class D felony, as well as first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor.

Medrano appeared for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, July 2nd. His arraignment is scheduled for July 28th, where he will formally respond to the charges.
