Iowa (Radio Iowa)– The upcoming Independence Day holiday weekend is expected to reach record numbers when it comes to travel.
Brian Ortner, a spokesman for Triple-A Iowa, says as many as 50-point-seven million Americans will hit the road over the long weekend which is brings numbers back to where they were before the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A majority of travelers are expected to travel by car with average gas prices more than a dollar lower than last year, but the bad news is airfares and hotel rates are typically more expensive.
