ARNOLDS PARK, IA (Northwestiowanow) – The Arnolds Park City Council met Tuesday night to discuss the city’s ongoing parking issues, as well as how to pay for future repairs.
One idea that was considered was paid parking. But after strong opinions from the public, both the city and Arnolds Park Amusement Park CEO Jon Pausley decided not to move forward with that option.
Instead, Pausley and the park’s board will look at other ways to cover costs, including improving efficiency and finding alternative funding sources. The city has already added 36 new car spaces and 20 golf cart spaces along Broadway using funds from the hotel/motel tax.
Pausley also added that the goal was never to profit from parking, but to keep things running smoothly for the public.
Although no final action was taken, both the city and the park say they will keep working together to find a solution that supports local infrastructure without adding extra costs for residents and visitors.
