LAURENS, IA (Northwestiowanow) – The city of Laurens is diving into its summer celebration with the Summer Splash Bash, kicking off today, Friday, July 11.
City Manager Hillary Reed says the three-day celebration will feature something for everyone. Friday includes a Kids Korner meal and family activities at the park.
One of the weekend’s major highlights will be the Grand Marshal Induction Ceremony, taking place Friday at 7:15 p.m.
Immediately following the Grand Marshal ceremony is the official ribbon cutting and opening of the long-awaited Laurens Aquatic Center at 7:30 p.m.
The night ends with a fireworks show at 9:45 p.m. at Sportsman’s Park.
Saturday is the busiest day, featuring sidewalk sales, vendor shows, and a community parade at 10 a.m. The day continues with inflatables, water fights, a foam party, food vendors, contests, and live music by Love Bomb.
Sunday wraps up the celebration with a free will ham ball dinner at the United Methodist Church and a concert by The Browns.
