Spirit Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The Spring Run Shooting Range near Spirit Lake is getting a big makeover. It’ll close on July 21st for a $400,000 upgrade, with plans to reopen by late fall.

The old range, with its concrete culverts and dirt mounds, will be totally redone including new covered shooting areas, concrete walkways, and strong steel safety barriers. There will be dedicated spots for 30-yard and 100-yard shooting, plus better areas for clay targets.

This project is happening thanks to a $50,000 gift from the Dickinson County Conservation Board and a grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
