Northwest Iowa – The first case of measles has been confirmed in the KICD listening area, and the un-named infected adult recalls visiting Sheldon, Hull and Sioux Center over a period in July. Here is the official Iowa Department of Health and Human Services Report.
How contagious are the measles? We asked Clay County Public Health Nurse Angel Smith.
If you suspect you may have the measles, contact your local health provider over the phone first.
If you believe you were in the area of a confirmed case, Smith says you have a window of time before symptoms occur.
Smith gives data on Clay County Immunizations.
Adults are not as vulnerable to measles.
Contact the Clay County Public Health office, or your local health care providers for more information.
