Estherville, IA (KICD)– An Estherville man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after police were called to investigate a domestic assault on Thursday.
The initial call came in just before noon when a caller told dispatchers she had been on the phone with her sister when the line went dead.
The Estherville Police Department attempted to make contact with those inside the residence when 42-year-old Joseph Myers eventually came to the door but refused to let officers inside to check on the victim which reportedly led to an altercation before Myers was taken into custody.
He has been charged with attempted murder, domestic assault-third or subsequent offense, two counts of assault on an officer, first degree harassment- fourth or subsequent offense, two counts of false imprisonment, willful injury and child endangerment.
Myers is being held in the Emmet County Jail on 100 thousand dollars bond.
