Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — September is Suicide Awareness Month, and this weekend, Jill Barr with LINC provided valuable information to help anyone struggling with thoughts of suicide, or those who can help others. She acknowledges many feel hesitant to approach someone they are concerned about.
Barr is Director of the Local Initiative for Networking Collaberation, which is responsible for making sure the community knows about the resources available. During Suicide Awareness month, she wants one message to ring clear.
Monday, September 8th was designated 988 day, which is the 988 Lifeline phone number to access free, quality, one-on-one assistance. Barr says Clay County Fair attendees will see signs around the fair grounds with a QR code to scan to find out more.
