An Arizona man is facing multiple charges after Emmet County law enforcement investigated a suspicious vehicle earlier this month.
Sheriff Mike Martens tells KICD News a deputy was called to look into a pickup and boat trailer that were parked a road south of Armstrong late on July 1st.
An investigation at the scene determined 29-year-old Benjamin Johnson had run out of fuel, that the truck had been reported stolen from a dealership in Minnesota and the trailer allegedly stolen in Emmetsburg.
A deeper look also led to the discovery that Johnson was accused of leading Minnesota authorities on a high speed chase with shots fired and that he was also in possession of a number of items taken in a series of burglaries as well as illegal substances.
As a result, Johnson was charged with Two counts of first degree theft, providing false identification, possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver, possession of drug parapheranlia and not having a valid driver’s license.
The matter remains under investigation by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota authorities.
