Milford, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Okoboji and Emmetsburg collided in Milford for a Non-District battle Friday night. You heard the game on Big Country 107.7.

Emmetsburg struck first when Tyce Jenness returned the opening kick-off 95 yards for a Touchdown. A missed PAT kept it at 6-0 in favor of the E-Hawks.

Okoboji would tie it on a Cam Vonk Touchdown run and missed PAT.

Tyce Jennes scored again, this time on a 24-yard Touchdown run. The 2-Point Conversion gave Emmetsburg a 14-6 lead. The Pioneers came back with Asa Jacobsen going 37 yards for a Touchdown, the 2-Point Conversion tied the game at 14 going into the 2nd quarter.

The two teams traded scores in the 2nd, Emmetsburg’s Braeden Yates had a rushing Touchdown before a missed PAT and then Okoboji’s Trey Vander Pol found Asa Jacobsen on a 58-yard Touchdown pass. The PAT gave Okoboji their first lead going into the half at 21-20.

The 3rd Quarter was all Okoboji with Vander Pol getting his second Touchdown pass to Avery Simington and Asa Jacobsen breaking free for a 79-yard Touchdown run.

Emmetsburg would score in the 4th quarter to get back within 8, but the Pioneers buried any chance of a comeback as Ryker Wright scored a 5-yard Touchdown run to give us our final score of 42-26.

Okoboji’s Trey Vander Pol was fantastic in the win, completing 13 of 18 passes for 207 yards and a pair of Touchdowns.

Asa Jacobsen dominated on the ground, running 9 times for 183 yards and 2 Touchdowns for Okoboji.

Emmetsburg rushed for 205 yards on 52 carries in the loss, Braeden Yates giving the E-Hawks 94 of those.

Next up for Emmetsburg is a home game to open up District play against Pocahontas Area while Okoboji will bring their unbeaten record across the bridge to play Spirit Lake, opening up Class 2A District 2 action.
