Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Spencer City Staff has sent a registered letter to the owner of a blighted property along Highway 71. City Manager Kevin Robinson says one entity owns the entire block on the Southwest corner of Grand Avenue and 4th Street Southwest.

Planning Director Adam Severson says if the owner does not respond, the city – with court approval – could demolish the buildings, and attach a lien to the property for reimbursement in the future.

The owner of the entire block is listed as L.J. Convenience Limited Liability Company on the Clay County Assessor’s website.
