Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Volleyball team played host to Sioux Central Monday night in the Fieldhouse.

The Tigers would take set 1 by a score of 25-16. Spencer wouldn’t miss a serve in the first set, highlighted by a long serving run from Jersey Vail.

Sioux Central was able to get rolling a lot more with their outside hitters in set 2. Both Caitlin Wildeman and Sage Weber put a lot more pressure on the Spencer front, but the Tigers were still able to outlast the Rebels and pick up set 2 by a score of 25-19.

In set 3, despite some great efforts from the Rebel side in scrambles, The Spencer front row was relentless. Alexa Hallett continuously knifed kills through the heart of the Sioux Central defense. Freshman Lauren Koenig and Calista Frankenstein gave Spencer a big lift off the bench in set 3 as outside hitters. The Tigers trailed 12-11 at one point but put together great runs with Kiera Brown and Hallett on the serve to cruise to a 25-14 set win, picking up the 3-0 sweep of Sioux Central.

Spencer improves to 7-11 on the year and prepare for the Carroll invitational this weekend, where they will mix-it-up with Carroll, Audubon, Fort Dodge, IKM-Manning, Newell-Fonda, South Central Calhoun, and Storm Lake.

Sioux Central falls back to .500 at 5-5 and will seek Twin Lakes Conference win number 2 on Thursday when they host GTRA. That will be a match you can hear on News Radio 102.5 and AM 1240 KICD as well as an audio stream through NorthwestIowaNow.com.
