Des Moines, IA (Radio Iowa)– Thousand of bicyclists will make the annual trek across Iowa starting this weekend with RAGBRAI 50th Anniversary ride kicking off in Sioux City and it looks like some added heat with also make the trip.
Meteorologist Kristy Carter with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says forecasters are predicting a heat wave to arrive in Iowa at time that may have some riders roasting.
Up to now, July has not been as brutal as past summers in Iowa, but forecast models are hinting that is about to change with the possibility of heat related advisories being issued depending on humidity levels.
RAGBRAI will kick off in Sioux City on Sunday making its first overnight stop in Storm Lake before ending next Saturday in Davenport.
