Milford, IA (KICD) — The Milford city council has approved funding a housing study. The representative of the South Okoboji Development Group that wants to build on the current airport site – Drew Hagge (Haggy) – brought the city council two options. Viewpoint Consulting offered a 19 thousand 600 contract that would include an employment study of nearby Spencer and Spirit Lake, but would be done remotely; and a 18 thousand 500 plan from RDG that would include on-site interviews and meetings. The council approved the RDG proposal based on the city attorney reviewing an official contract.

The council also consented to sponsor a REAP grant application to the state of Iowa for another phase of the bike trail to link Dickinson and Clay Counties. Trail Association Director Erin Reed said the application had to be made by a governmental entity.

And the 175 thousand dollar plan to fix the sidewalk running on the North side of the city hall / library / community building was scrapped last night. Further study by Beck Engineering indicates the only way to permanently fix water backup that’s making the sidewalk crumble, AND to be A.D.A. compliant is to entirely rebuild N Avenue, which would cost twice as much. That matter was referred to the city council finance committee.
