Rock Rapids, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A 64-year-old George man was fatally injured Friday afternoon when he was struck by a semi on highway 9 in Lyon County. Steven Cuperus was Easbound in a pickup, when a southbound semi entering the intersection from County Road K-60 struck him. The driver of the semi was 28-year-old Matthew Wieber of Benson, Minnesota.

The accident occurred shortly before 2:30pm. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department and EMS.
