A favorite musical tradition is returning to Northwest Iowa this holiday season, and the Spencer Messiah Board is looking for singers to join the chorus!
It’s time for the community presentation of “Selections from Handel’s Messiah,” and this is a special year. The full Messiah is performed only every three years, making this year’s show a big deal.
Tom Rutt of the Spencer Messiah Board says the performance is unique because it features an orchestra, soloists, and a full chorus. He also shared that the show is about more than just a famous holiday chorus:
The performance is a big undertaking for the community, and Rutt says it reflects the spirit of people in the area.
Rehearsals start this Sunday, October 19th, at 6 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. They will continue every Sunday evening until the week of the show.
The performance of “Selections from Handel’s Messiah” is set for Sunday, December 7th, at 7 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. It’s a free-will offering. Follow Spencer Messiah on Facebook for more information.
