Hartley, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Sibley-Ocheyedan went into Hartley to play Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Friday night with the Generals looking to finish the season strong for a playoff spot.
Sibley-Ocheyedan jumped out quick, scoring 3 first half Touchdowns. Dawson Kreykes had one from 7 yards, Hunter Kauffman got a 15-yard Touchdown run, and Tristin Wingate took an Interception back 17 yards for a Touchdown and the Generals led 22-0 after the first quarter.
Sibley-Ocheyedan continued to pour it on in the 2nd quarter. Dominic Marco got a 38-yard Touchdown run and Avery Maker also scored on a run from a yard away, making it 36-0. The first half was capped off with Hunter Kauffman finding Tristin Wingate on a 46-yard Touchdown pass to extend the lead to 43 after the extra point.
Sibley-Ocheyedan got one more Touchdown in the 3rd quarter, as Kaufman got his 2nd Touchdown pass to Tanner Gries, putting the Generals up 50-0.
HMS picked up a Touchdown from Jaxon Voigt late in the 4th quarter to make it 50-6 and giving us our final score after an unsuccessful 2-point conversion.
Sibley-Ocheyedan had 257 yards of total offense on the night. Hunter Kauffmann had 132 of those with 78 through the air and 54 on the ground. The Generals improve to 3-4 on the year and 3-2 in District play. They will try and lock in a playoff spot next week at home against Sioux Central.
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn drops to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in Class A District 1 play. up next for the Hawks is a home game against top ranked and unbeaten MMCRU.
