Estherville, IA (KICD)– Quick work by two area fire departments kept a Tuesday afternoon field fire southwest of Estherville from becoming a major issue.
Firefighters from Estherville and Wallingford were called to 1996 370th Street shortly before 1:15 where heavy smoke was seen crossing the roadway making for very poor visibility for passing motorists.
Crews spent about two hours at the scene knocking down flames and were able to keep the flames away from neighboring fields and a nearby hog confinement.
