Estherville, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Estherville Police are investigating after an unresponsive female was found late Monday night. Officers were called just after 11 p.m. to South 17th Street where they located the female lying on the ground. E-M-S was dispatched and transported the woman to Avera Holy Family Hospital. She was later pronounced dead.

Authorities are not releasing the woman’s identity at this time to allow for family notification.

The female was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.

Police state there is no perceived threat to the public stemming from this incident. Estherville Police Captain Nathaniel Dunlavy says the investigation is ongoing.
