Estherville, IA (KICD)– A section of roadway in Estherville is closed Friday afternoon due to a gas leak.

A statement from Black Hills Energy says crews were called to the area of Highway 9 and Central Avenue after learning a natural gas line had been damaged leading to the area being shut down to the traffic in both directions until the problem can be resolved which could take several hours.

Anyone smelling natural gas is advised to leave their home immediately and to avoid any actions that could lead to a spark.
