Spencer, IA (KICD)– The Spencer Hospital Board of Trustees has narrowed its search for a new President and CEO to three candidates, one of which is an internal candidate.

Brenda Tiefenthaler has worked for Spencer Hospital for 23 years and currently serves as the Vice President of Patient Care and Operations.

Tiefenthaler and two other candidates were selected as finalists out of more than 35 applicants and will be interviewed in closed session next week.

The successful finalist will take over from Bill Bumgarner who announced earlier this year that he will be retiring at the end of 2023 capping off a nearly 40-year career in the healthcare industry.
