Ruthven, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — An investigation stemming from a traffic stop late this summer has resulted in new felony weapon charges for a Ruthven man.

Palo Alto County Sheriff John King reports that 43-year-old James Bowman is now facing a charge of Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon—specifically his second offense—along with a first-offense charge for Possession of Marijuana.

The case began back in August, when a traffic stop initially resulted in disorderly conduct charges against Bowman. However, that incident sparked a continuing investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

That follow-up work led deputies to execute a search warrant at a property located at 3618 350th Street. Authorities say evidence uncovered during that search led to the new charges being filed against Bowman.
