Spencer, IA (KICD)– The start of the new school year for some is only a day or two away for many districts in the area meaning there will once again be an influx of students headed back to the classroom.
Those that are walking or biking to school in Spencer are advised to take advantage of designated safe routes that Spencer Police Chief Mark Warburton says were identified around ten years ago with grant funding for the program having grown since then.
Chief Warburton notes there has been confusion from time to time when it comes to the flashing beacons around town.
Motorists around Spencer Middle School are also reminded of a permanent change on 10th Avenue East that has dropped the speed limit from 35 to 30 miles per hour.
