ESTHERVILLE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Estherville Lincoln Central is moving forward with a major renovation of its athletic complex.
Estherville Lincoln Central Community School District Superintendent Andrew Armstead says the project aims at modernizing facilities to attract more events to the community.
Currently, Armstead says the district is focused on Phase One of the project.
The athletic complex sits between the high school and Iowa Lakes Community College. Armstead says the goal is to centralize all field events inside the stadium.
The district recently accepted a bid from Graves Construction in Spencer for Phase One, which is expected to cost near $2.5 million. The full project, which includes upgrading grandstands for ADA compliance and replacing the aging scoreboard, is estimated at $3.7 million.
Armstead says fundraising is underway for phases two and three, with a goal of at least $1.2 million. He says one donor has already pledged a large amount.
He notes construction costs have remained high since COVID, and the district decided to act now rather than later to avoid further price increases.
