Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — The Clay County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday December 23 and approved a new service agreement between the Sheriff’s Office and the Spencer Community Health Center.
Sheriff Chris Raveling told the board this partnership allows Community Health Center to offer their services inside the county jail for inmates.
He noted CHC has a sliding scale for fees, so inmates without insurance can get affordable help quickly.
Clinic Manager Dawn Dahm explains the Health Center’s services.
Spencer Community Health Center is located at 223 West 7th Street in Spencer, and is a federally funded facility, and offers walk-in care Monday through Thursday.
Raveling said partnering with CHC aims to reduce the burden on deputies who previously had to transport inmates for every appointment and helps the county provide adequate help when incarcerated.
